GOD is SPIRIT, and those who WORSHIP
him must WORSHIP in SPIRIT and TRUTH.
John 4:24
Don’t think you are separated from GOD, he at the top end of a great ladder, you at the other. Dismiss any thought that GOD is on Venus while you are on earth. Since GOD is spirit (John 4:23), he is next to you: God himself is our roof. God himself is our wall. And God himself is our foundation.
Moses knew this. “Lord,” he prayed, “you have been our home since the beginning” (Ps. 90:1). What a powerful thought: God as your home. Your home is the place where you can kick off your shoes and eat pickles and crackers and not worry about what people think when they see you in your bathrobe.
Your home is familiar to you. No one has to tell you how to locate your bedroom… God can be equally familiar to you. With time you can learn where to go for nourishment, where to hide for protection, where to turn for guidance. Just as your earthly house is a place of refuge, so God’s house is a place od peace. God’s house has never been plundered, his walls have never been breached.
Being made right with GOD
by his GRACE, we could have the HOPE of
receiving the LIFE that never ENDS.
Titus 3:7
You may be decent. You may pay taxes and kiss your kids and sleep with a clean conscience. But apart from Christ you aren’t holy. So how can you go to heaven?
Only believe. Accept the work already done, the work of Jesus on the cross.
Accept the goodness of Jesus Christ. Abandon your own works and accept his. Abandon your own decency and accept his. Stand before God in his name, not yours.
It’s that easy? There was nothing easy about it at all. The cross was heavy, the blood was real, and the price was extravagant. It would have bankrupted you or me, so he paid it for us. Call it simple. Call it a gift. But don’t call it easy.
Call it what it is. CALL IT GRACE.

Jesus says the options are clear. On one side there is the voice of safety. You can build a fire in the hearth, stay inside, and stay warm and dry for what you don’t try, right? You can’t fall if you don’t take a stand, right? You can’t lose your balance if you never climb, right? So don’t try it. Take the safe route.
Or you can hear the voice of adventure- GOD’s adventure. Instead of building a fire in your hearth, build a fire in your heart. Follow God’s impulses. Adopt the child. Move overseas. Teach the class. Change careers. Run for office. Make a difference. Sure it isn’t safe, but what is?
Wish GOOD for those HARM you;
WISH them well and do not CURSE them.
Romans 12:14
It would hard to find someone worse than judas. Some say he was a good man with a backfired strategy. I don’t buy that. The Bible says, “Judas… was a thief” (John 12:6). The man was a crook. Somehow he was able to live in the presence of GOD and experience the miracles of CHRIST and remain unchanged. In the end he decided he’d rather have money than a friend, so he sold JESUS for thirty pieces of silver… JUDAS was a scoundrel, a cheat, and a bum. How could anyone see him any other way?
I don’t know, but JESUS did. Only inches from the face of his betrayer, Jesus looked at him and said, “friend, do what you came to do” (Matt. 26:50). What jesus saw in jesus as worthy of being called a friend, I can’t imagine. But I do know that Jesus doesn’t lie, and in the moment he saw something good in a very bad man…
He can HELP us do the same with those who HURT us.

We come to CHRIST in an hour of deep need. We abandon the boat of good works. We realize, like Peter, that spanning the gap between us and JESUS is a feat too great for our feet. So we beg for help. Hear his voice. And step out in feat, hoping that out little faith will be enough.
FAITH is a desperate dive out of the sinking baot of human effort and a prayer that GOD will be there to pull us out of the water. PAUL wrote about this kind of faith.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of GOD-not by works, so that no one can boast” (Eph. 2:8-9).
If PEOPLE’s thinking is controlled by
the SINFUL SELF, there is DEATH. But if their thinking is
controlled by the SPIRIT, there is LIFE and PEACE.
Romans 8:6
Your HEART is a fertile greenhouse ready to produce good fruit. Your mind is the doorway to you heart-the strategic place where your determine which seeds are sown and which seeds are discarded. The HOLY SPIRIT is ready to help you manage and filter the thoughts that try to enter. He can help you guard you heart.
He stands which you on the threshold. A thought approaches, a questionable thought. Do you throw open the door and let it it enter? Of course not. You “fight to capture every thought until it acknowledges the authority of Christ” (2Cor. 10:5 PHILLIPS). You don’t leave the door unguarded. You stand equipped with handcuffs and leg irons, ready to capture any thought not fit to enter.

We have attempted to reach the moon but scarely made it off the ground. We tried to swim the Pacific, but couldn’t get beyond the reef. We have attempted to scale the Everest of salvation, but we have yet leave the base camp, much less ascend the slope. The quest is simply too great; we don’t need more supplies or muscle or technique; we need a helicopter.
Can’t you hear it hovering?
“God has a way to make people right with him” (Rom.3:21). How vital that we embrace this truth. God’s highest dream is not to make us rich, not to make us successful or popular or famous.
